Description Bridgewater College is seeking a dedicated and passionate Coordinator of Campus Engagement and Belonging to join our Student Life team. This crucial role is instrumental in cultivating an accepting and equitable environment that fosters a strong sense of belonging for all students through building club affinity and helping develop programming. The Opportunity Reporting to the Director of New Student Experiences and Belonging, while simultaneously working closely with the Director of Student Leadership and Belonging, the Coordinator serves as the contact for student programming and offers a unique opportunity to directly impact student success and well-being. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborating closely with the Director of New Student Experiences and Belonging to co-advise programs and support retention activities. Collaborating closely with the Director of Student Leadership and Belonging to co-advise CEAT (the Campus Engagement and Activities Team) to develop , coordinate , and facilitate a wide array of c ampus-wide programs. Providing leadership and guidance to the commuter student population and class officer affinity groups. Acting as a dedicated student advocate, connecting students with relevant campus resources and providing logistical and promotional support for club and organization programming . Developing, managing, and implementing strategic communications for the BCVA Student Life social media platforms to ensure clear and effective outreach to both current and new students. Participating in and supporting major undergraduate retention events such as Welcome Week, Admitted Students Day, BC Block Party, SpringFest, Summer Orientation, and other significant college events. Though not a comprehensive list, the main responsibilities of the position include: Plan, develop, and execute programming to foster student belonging. Develop and implement content and communications for BCVA Student Life social media accounts. Advocate for students by providing support and offering connections with other campus resources. Work in collaboration with the Director for Student Leadership and Belonging to advise CEAT and develop and implement engaging programs for all community members. The successful candidate will be an accomplished, organized, and inclusive leader with a passion for student success. While a comprehensive list of qualifications can be found here , the successful candidate will possess the following: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : A Bachelor's degree in sociology, education, psychology, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, education, sociology, counseling, or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated exp erience in program and event planning for a variety of populations and sizes. Experience with supporting a peer mentor program, especially through facilitation of programming and coordination of training efforts, is preferred. Knowledge of programmatic development, implementation, and data tracking as it pertains to working with a diverse spectrum of student groups. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Demonstrated ability to work successfully within an interdisciplinary team of diverse students and staff. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledge of social media platform operations. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to meet student and college demands. The ability to develop strong boundaries with students while cultivating a mentoring relationship in the office. A strong sense of diplomacy, sensitivity, and objectivity when working with students and colleagues. Demonstrated judgmen t, analysis, and decision-making skills. Effective written and oral communication skills while maintaining professionalism at all times. Experience working effectively in interdisciplinary teams and building collaborative relationships with colleagues across departments. ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS: This role operates in both indoor and outdoor environments. While typical work hours may vary, the Coordinator should have the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support college events and student programming. This is a medium work position, involving the ability to lift no more than 50 pounds at a time, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Effective sensory demands including far vision, near vision, hearing, and clear speech are required for successful communication and interaction.
