General Public - G Job Duties Performs review of waterworks plans
and specifications for conformance with the Waterworks Regulations,
communicates required changes to the design engineer, and issues
construction permits, general permits, and description sheets for
approved projects. Ensures that permitted construction activities
comply with design standards established by the Virginia Waterworks
Regulations. Audits local review programs for localities that hold
a general permit. Most activities are handled independently with
supervision required only for very large projects or the most
complex issues. Danville applicants are welcome to apply Minimum
Qualifications Knowledge of sanitary engineering pertaining to
drinking water; state and federal laws, rules and regulations
governing drinking water; management practices and principles and
administrative and supervisory principles preferred. Ability to
make sound engineering decisions; monitor and assess progress and
interpret and apply federal and state laws and regulations; create
technical reports Strong oral and written communication skills and
ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal
staff, officials, engineers and other public health groups
Additional Considerations • Licensure as a Professional Engineer
(PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) in Virginia preferred. Special
