Description:About SIR:The Society of Interventional Radiology
(SIR) is a thriving professional medical society dedicated to
optimizing patient care and improving lives through minimally
invasive, image-guided treatments. Located in Fairfax, Virginia,

specialties in medicine today. SIR is a 501(c)(6) professional
association that supports more than 8,100 interventional radiology
physicians, trainees, medical students, scientists and clinical
professionals. SIR is also comprised of SIR's 501(c)(3) Foundation,
which focuses on research and fundraising to advance the future of
interventional radiology. Together SIR and SIR Foundation have
nearly 50 staff, combined annual revenues of $10 million, and
assets of nearly $17 million. Position Summary:The SIR Government
Affairs Intern will have the unique opportunity to assist in
several areas of work within the SIR Government Affairs Department.
This internship will be a virtual and in-person hybrid experience
with opportunities to assist initiatives that support the field of
Interventional Radiology such as policy, advocacy, Congressional
hearings and fundraisers, and member engagement with our physician
members.Responsibilities Include: -- Research and track
legislative, regulatory, and political activity.-- Virtually attend
congressional hearings, state legislative hearings, and/or
briefings and create summaries.-- Participate in writing and
editing talking points, policy papers, backgrounders, newsletter
articles and other publications.-- Assist the Senior Manager of
Government Affairs with the SIRPAC Political Action Committee and
Voices for IR grassroots program. -- Attend and provide support for
internal meetings by gathering and assembling information,
coordinating with staff to develop agendas, and ensuring proper
follow-up and output, including meeting summaries and
minutes.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:-- Excellent
organizational and time management skills and discipline to work
virtually.-- Strong communication, written, research and analytic
skills.-- Strong interest in politics and the legislative
process.-- Demonstrated professionalism.Education: -- Current
student in an undergraduate or graduate program in Political
Science or Public PolicyExperience:-- Candidates should possess an
interest in and familiarity with politics, grassroots organizing,
the federal legislative process, political action committees, and
advocacy communication tools. Any experience working in a
Congressional office, a federal agency, or on a political campaign
is a plus.Requirements: SIR is not considering applicants outside
of these states at this time: CO, DC, FL, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, NC,
OH, PA, TN, TX, VA Work Conditions/Physical Environment:Small, fast
paced open office environment with moderate noise levels. Use of
phones and computers for extended periods of time. Utilize office
equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and
teleconference meetings/webinars. Requires general mobility to move
through the facility. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent
interaction with internal staff and physician members/board via
phone, in person, email and other mediums. Normal sitting and
standing activities for an office environment. Onsite presence
