SummaryThe Engineering Intern - Software works with and is mentored by a group of engineers who design and develop software solutions to meet customer requirements. To qualify for an Engineering Internship, one must currently be enrolled in one of our preferred majors; possess curiosity and eagerness to learn; have strong foundational software skills; and thrive in a team environment. Engineering Interns have real responsibilities that impact actual products and help pave the way on our development path. Position Responsibilities

• Implement and optimize software including application programs, interfaces, database schemas, and/or user interface components
• Develop documentation, test procedures, technical reports, and inputs for presentation to customers and other stakeholders
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions
• Other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related area of study
  • Experience with at least one object-oriented programming language
  • Familiarity with basic concepts in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
    • Experience with Ubuntu and/or CentOS Linux operating systems
    • Experience with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
    • Familiarity with source code configuration management tools such as Git
    • Familiarity with one or more IDEs and debuggers
    • UAV or Robotics experience
    • General engineering fundamentals including mathematics, physics, etc.
    • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
    • Effective problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills Physical Demands
      • Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)
      • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Constant) The salary range for this role is: $22 - $33 AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
